The 贝勒 varsity combined (boys and girls) swimming and diving team has been named the 2019-20 independent school national champion by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA).
The NISCA awards program is based on submitted high school team results. Those results are translated into power points. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down spring swimming in several states, the national dual meet team ranking program had a solid showing with 320 teams entering. Though down from last year’s total, the number still exceeds the total number of teams participating in five out of the last 14 years.
The Aqua Raiders racked up a total of 11,086 power points between the boys' and girls' teams to finish atop the list of combined squads from independent schools with a high school enrollment of up to 900.
The Baylor boys claimed second place in the same class of independent schools, scoring a total of 5,502 points and finishing just behind the Brunswick School located in Greenwich, Conn. The 贝勒 boys have won the NISCA title four times in their history.
The 贝勒 girls finished fourth overall in the same division, scoring at a total of 5,584 points. The girls have won the NISCA title five times in their history.
